Jelly

I finally finished making apple and bullace (wild grape) jellies yesterday. I had made the juice a week or so ago and put it in the refrigerator. So after lunch yesterday, I set the giant water bath canner on the stove to heat, pulled the juice out of the fridge and got to work.

Once the jelly was made and dinner served, I realized we had nothing for dessert, so I made oatmeal chocolate chip cookies.

My day didn't start out too well yesterday, (see previous post) but it ended nicely. Warm oatmeal cookies make it all better.

  3. I'm sure it would be difficult to have to bury an animal that you have been caring for. That was a bad start to a day. I think that it's great when kids are raised with animals because it gives them a sense of responsibility and a great respect for them as well.

The cookies look great and so do the jellies. Reminds me that my son will be stopping by for a visit today so I'll need to bake up a batch of chocolate chip cookies just for him. He may be 23 but he's still my baby.

  4. Perhaps I should have said "grew up with animals" or "cared for animals." LOL After reading what I wrote, I'm not fond of the wording but I'm sure you know what I mean. Geez!

  5. It all looks so yummy!
I read your previous blog. Can't say I have ever heard that saying! It is hard to bury an animal. Life is so fragile. Your children sound very mature for their age.

  7. The cookies look so good! I just bought some oatmeal a few days ago and am ready to bake some soon.

We recently canned peaches (21 jars) and it was just me and my 91 yr old grandma. hehe It took us at least 6 hours to complete the process from start to finish. Its worth it in the end. ;-)
