The Mudroom is Finished!

Our mudroom is finished! I'm still working on getting settled in the new space, deciding where to put things and what (if any) furniture to buy. Any suggestions?

You can see the coat hooks we bought (they are on the white chair); we'll get those put up soon.

Mudroom Tile and New Bags in the Bede Sisters shop

The tile in the mudroom is grouted and I'm getting anxious to get the room decorated!

I also added two new bags to the Bede Sisters etsy shop. They are gorgeous cotton prints from Michael Miller. The bags have a generous 14 pockets, including eight outside pockets and six inside pockets. There are also elastic holders inside for sippy cups or water bottles. Both bags come with a coordinating wristlet key chain.

Mudroom Is Almost Done

The mudroom is getting close to being finished. The tile is in place, it just needs grout and sealant. After that, the door needs trim and the light fixture will go up. I can hardly wait to start using the space!

Some beautiful flowers are in bloom right now. The bearded irises are stunning.

This is a pink clematis that is doing well this year:

And the purple clematis is getting to be a reliable spring bloomer:

Look, Mom! Shiny teeth!

We headed into the city today for an appointment with the dentist. The children and I all had our teeth cleaned and (drum roll, please)...no cavities! Yay!

The mudroom is getting close to the finishing touches. The trim work is almost done and the floors still need tile, but that's about it. I can hardly wait!

Another Busy Saturday

We kept busy, pretty much all day yesterday. The morning started with a trip to town for goat fencing supplies and a light fixture for the new mudroom. The girls stayed home and I got to join my boys for the trip. I think they just wanted a girl along while they were riding in the Tinkerbell truck (it's nicknamed that because our college-girl drives it to school and has Tinkerbell accessories.)

So, while the boys worked on getting the fence started (above), I dug up a few hostas to share with neighbors.

And the mudroom got closer to being finished.

Our Day in the Herb Garden

My children helped in the herb garden today. They dug holes for planting the new plants and my son was in charge of cutting back the rosemary. He had a great time, saying that was his favorite job ever! Here's the basket full of rosemary, cut and bundled for drying: We took some time to research the herbs that are in our garden. We have several that are great for herbal "teas", like mint and lemon balm. We have lots that we'll use for seasoning, such as chives, oregano and sage. And one or two just because they smell nice, like lavender.

My son labeled jars for some herbs that were already dry. Hmmm, maybe we should work on spelling tomorrow.

The new plants are in the herb bed, and we've left about a quarter of the bed empty for now. I plan to add basil and dill in a few weeks. In looking around the yard today, I noticed that the wild blackberries are in bloom. We'll gather the berries later in the summer and turn them into jam and jelly.

And a quick update on the mudroom--the siding is almost done and the sheetrock is going on the walls.

Saturday Projects

We had a productive Saturday at our place. Loads got done on the mudroom and hubby and I got a good start on our spring spruce up. Here's the progress on the mudroom:

My husband cleaned the chicken coop and put in fresh hay:

And the porch got a good cleaning, rinsing off the furniture and floor:

And finally, a trip to town, including dinner at Five Guys Burgers:

We also picked up some new pillows for the porch chairs. I think they look nice. Join me for iced tea at sunset?

A Bit More Work on the Mudroom

The mudroom got a bit further along, but there probably won't be much more done for a few days. The forecast is for rain for the rest of the week. Sigh. On the upside, Abby the Ginormous Dog is settling in well. This was her agenda for today: lie down, walk around the kitchen, bark at the storms, lie down...repeat.

Quick Update on the Mudroom Addition

Here's a look at the progress on the mudroom: The foundation is in place, with the brick-work done. There is also a concrete patio to the right. The patio will extend over to the brick once the project is done. We're having a lot of rain right now, so I'm not sure how much work will get done this week. I'll keep you posted on the progress.

Work on the mudroom addition has started

The first photo (above) shows the back steps, which have now been demolished.

The second photo (above) is the back door, sans steps, with the ground cleared for the foundation to be poured.

This photo (above) is of the foundation, ready for the cement truck to do its thing.

As of today, the concrete is in place and will need several days to cure before more work can be done. Now, if I can just remember not to use that back door...
